Modi, to be or not to be, that is the Question!

Narendra Damodhar Modi, perhaps the most talked about Prime Minister of India around the globe. You can love him, you can hate him but you can not ignore him.

The opposition failed to find any bigger issue to fight election than brand “Modi” itself. Intellectual couldn’t find any reason for whatever happening in the country from petrol price to lynching other than “Modi”. Veteran politicians or mushroom politicians finding their grounds on “Modi” to even get television slots.

But the most confused are the one who matters the most, the common man. They are in dilemma whether to like Modi whom everybody hates or hate Modi whom everybody loves. To believe what is projected or to believe what is propagandized.

Let’s check some facts and figure (as on 16 January 2018), Number of days political parties ruled India:

  1. Congress 19,871 days (54.44 Years)
  2. Janta Dal 2257 days (6.18 Years)
  3. BJP 3968 days (10.87 years)

During the last 71 years, Congress was ruling the country for almost 76% of time, therefore whatever impact India has on world map is majorly due to the policies of Congress government and if there is any failure they have to have a conscience to accept and promise the people to do the corrections as majority of people of this country had a trust in them for a longer period of time. Excepting the blames will go long way as the people respect the honesty than being smart and turning the tables. Now on other hands, BJP ruled the country for more than 10 years now and still ruling. 60+ years seating in opposition and shouting slogans may have some adverse effect, they should come out from campaigning mode and behave more modern in 2019.

Coming to Mr. Modi, lets highlight events during modi regime.

Nationalism

We were never been so nationalist during all these 71 years. As far I remember only two personunited the people of India with the emotion called “nation”. In 326 BC, Chanakya united people to stand against the roman “Alexander” invasion and in 1943 by Subhash Chandra Bose with the taking over of INA from Rash Behari Bose with the slogan “Give me blood and I shall give you freedom”. Both the occasion’s there was a bigger cause to challenge the nationalism of the countrymen. But what is happening now is the first time in the history of mankind that the politicians are activating our nationalism FOR NOTHING or we can say that being a common people we are not intelligent enough to understand the wide vision put forward by modern political parties. I don’t understand the need of so-called nationalism in the era of globalization. When the world is coming together to address the globe as one and find the solution for all mankind and save nature, we are energizing some primitive jungle raj emotions. Modi got all his Votes in 2014 in the name of Development where he even presented Gujrat as a model. No doubts there had been significant changes all around commerce and foreign affairs but all developments are in vain when vibes are wrong, people and institutions are targeted, media’s are controlled and environments are created where discussion & objections are not entertained. Stepping over the voices in the name of nationalism is the modern kind of racism we withstand now. Nationalism is the driving force behind fake news in India. Sponsored groups are engaged in spreading public spirit through social media and television; once you fill the fuel of nationalism, people get blinded and irrational. Extreme Flag waving behavior can nourish public shaming, lynching, killing and other kinds of violence. There is no space for freedom of speech and expression when there is a code of loyalty is followed.

Development

Let’s start with some statistics –

GDP Growth during Modiregime

8.1% (2015)

7.1% (2016)

6.6% (2017)

7.3% (2018)

7.2% (MOSPI Q4, 2018–19)

When Mr. Manmohan singhleft the office, GDP growth of India was 7.4% and still its around samerange or below. We understand that GDP depends on too many factors and need a long term to see a steadygrowth. Hence it should not be included in the election campaigning. What matters to people are not just infrastructure or ease of business, itshow happy they are with whatever they have. India rank 133 out of 156 countries, all our neighboring countries are far ahead of us.

Pakistan 75th rank

China 86th rank

Bhutan 97th rank

Nepal 101 rank

Bangladesh 115th rank

Sri Lanka 116 rank

India was ranking 111 when Dr. Manmohan left the office.

If Modi government is doing good in development, maybe they are doing it wrong, that’s what world happiness Index show.

Fiscal Deficit

It’s the greatest achievement of Modi government, this government was able to hold the deficit below 1% all these 4 years. This shows some determination from the Prime minister to set targets and achieve it. Lower fiscal deficit gives financial stability and provides a better ground while negotiating trades with other countries. Ease of doing business has encouraged the world to invest in India on a much larger scale.

Welfare Campaign

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Campaign)

This has been by far the best campaign programme started by Modi government on 2nd Oct 2014. Programmes like this take government towards people and their welfare. Never been in India an awareness programme of such a scale launched and reached widely to each and every sector of life in the country.

Campaign for Toilets

Prime minister has pushed hygiene to next level by initiating to build toilets with a rate of 1 toilet per second is a tremendous achievement of Modi government. This shows how much Modi put afford in changing the life’s of people.

Not to Divisive Politics

Whether it’s on Triple Talaq, Hindu Marriage Act, Indian Christian Marriage Act, Hindu Adoption Law; Modi tried to reach every section of people without worrying too much about political outcome due to these decisions.

Though Modi has been the face of “Development for all and appeasement for none“, but there has been some unrest and feeling of suppression all around, not from the government directly but it seems like the fringe elements enjoying their support.

Riots, intolerance, poverty, biased media, illiterate and ignored majorities, blood sucking industrialist and politicians; these has been the story since the day of independence. It happened then and it’s happening now. No new phenomena started by Modi government but we elected him not to continue living as we doing since last 70 years. We the people of India need development and more happiness. Modi does not have to prove himself in each rallies and speeches, he don’t have to be in election/opposition mode every time.

I don’t have loyalty towards Modi or BJP or Sang, we have elected them to serve us, not to tell us how great they are working 24×7 for us and therefore we need to be their bhakts. We have all the rights to ignore what good you are doing and question your wrongs; because you are there to do good and take better decision for the people without indulging in corruptions and changing the fundamental structure of the nation.

I will vote for Modi in 2019; he deserves one more term but I will be questioning him all the time irrespective of all opposition/hate/social media shaming by so-called bhakts.
